After the Public Cloud Computing session, we are moving towards the next cloud computing deployments models i.e. Private Cloud Computing model. Here, we will study the features, advantages and disadvantages of Private Cloud.
What is Private Cloud Model?
The Private Cloud model is the model which provides a distinct, secure, and flexible cloud model. It can be only accessible by a single company or organisation. This leads to a fact that the organisation can operate it with a greater control and privacy.
It consists of an underlying pool of a computing resource which will provide the computing power as a service within a virtualisation environment.
Private cloud is used in the context of Infrastructure as a service. The provider of the infrastructure which is providing the underlying public cloud infrastructure can be different from the provider realizing the VPC service over this infrastructure.
Features of Private Cloud Computing
i. Economical
The use of this cloud is limited so this will simply save to cost and energy of the host. Implementing a non-public cloud model will improve the allocation of resources within an organization by making sure that the provision of resources to an individual, departments/business functions will directly and flexible answering their demand.
They make a lot of economical use of the computing resource and can additionally reduce an organization’s carbon footprint
ii. Reliable
When servers and networks are hosted internally, the creation of virtualized operational environments can lead to individual failures across the physical infrastructure. Virtual partitions will remove their resources from the remaining unaffected servers.
iii. Secure
The private cloud can be accessed by on a particular organization and firm this makes it more secure and reliable. The Public cloud can be accessed by many companies which makes it less secure. Moreover, there are certain levels of security which makes the private cloud more secure.
iv. Control
Public cloud control by only a single, which leads to the fact that the organization can have the flexibility to tack and manage it in line with their must achieve a tailored network solution.
Advantages of Private Cloud
The services of Private Cloud can vary which states that it is difficult to say what constitutes a private cloud from the technical aspect.
There are multiple clients available for the cloud and they are accessing services simultaneously. This will draw the resources from a single place of computing. This can host internally or externally and access with the help of Public Networks.
There is additional security which is provided and can be able to store the data and process the private data to carry the further tasks.
They also have a characteristic that a private cloud device can utilize by the financial company that stores the private data very securely. Moreover, it also provides benefits such as on-demand resource allocation.
Disadvantages of Private Cloud
There are several disadvantages of the private cloud model such as-
- Increased automation and the complexity of the user can bring the complexities to the enterprise.
- The technologies of this type require a group of IT professionals to rebuild the data centre infrastructure which increases the cost.
- As it will require more IT professionals his will lead to the fact that the requirement of the IT professionals will be more and will increase the cost.
- It doesn’t have a feature of mitigation through the use of computing as a unity.
- A business has a burden of acquisition, deployment, support and maintenance costs involved.
Conclusion
Private Cloud is best for the business which has a dynamic and unpredictable computing requirement. It also has direct control over the environment. It also fulfils requirements such as security, business governance or regulatory compliance.
The private cloud is based on resources and infrastructure which is present in the organization’s data centre. Here, the enterprise operates the data centre which maintains the security and the confidentiality of the data.
