1. 7500th Janaushadhi Kendra 

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi inaugurated the 7500th Janaushadhi Kendra, a medical plus employment scheme.

He requested the nation to purchase medicines from these Kendra at a more affordable price and support the Kendra workers financially as well. 

2. New Uttarakhand Chief Minister

Uttrakhand woke up to its new chief Minister early this month as Tirath Singh Rawat took oath for the position.

Trivendra Singh Rawat’s resignation led to BJP selecting Tirath Singh as the new leader of the state. The PM congratulated him and showcased confidence in his management and leadership. 

3. Mera Ration App

The Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution took an initiative to help migrant workers across the country with Mera Ration App.

All the ration cardholders can have an account on this app and this comes under the One Nation One Ration Card. All the states are expected to implement this scheme this year. 

4. Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Nidhi 

The Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Nidhi is now a single non-lapsable reserve fund as approved by the Union Cabinet.

The fund is to safeguard affordable and accessible healthcare in the country. The fund is to make avoid lapse at the end of the financial year.

1. Maitri Setu Bridge

The feni river connecting India to Bangladesh saw the construction of the Maitri Setu Bridge connecting both countries by road.

PM Modi celebrated the unity while inaugurating the bridge in Tripura. He also laid the foundation stones for many other projects to be built in Tripura. 

2. The New Railway Helpline Number

The Indian Railways will no longer have different helpline numbers according to complaints and will only have one to address all issues.

This includes queries to complaints related to Indian railways in all the states. The number is “139” which will be active from 1 April 2021 and will come in 12 languages.

1. First-ever Quad summit

The Prime Ministers of India, Japan, Australia, USA came together on 12 March 2021 to attend the first-ever Quad leaders’ summit virtually.

The forum of these powerful economies discusses the topics of common interest to facilitate growth and development in their respective economies. 

2. Military Exercise in Space

France becomes one of the countries to launch military exercises in space to train the personnel for defending satellites and equipment in space.

This comes after increasing competition between the countries in the space and the French want to be prepared for all uncertainties.

1. World’s no. 1 Wrestler

An Indian Wrestler, Bajrang Punia managed to win the gold medal at Matteo Pallicone Ranking Series for the second time in his life.

He is now in the number 1 position after participating in his first post-pandemic competition. Before this achievement, he was ranked 2nd in the world. 

2. 10,000 International Runs Scored

The Captain of the Indian Cricket Women Team, Mithila Raj scored 10,000 international runs becoming the first woman in India to do so in all formats.

She is the second one in the world as  Charlotte Edwards of England achieved this milestone before her. Raj’s performance was also commendable in the match against South Africa.

1. The Film Archive Award

The most well-known senior actor in Bollywood, Amitabh Bachan will receive Film Archive Award 2021 by FIFA.

Christopher Nolan and Martin Scorsese will honor him with the noble award. Only the legendary industry experts receive this recognition as the award is very prestigious.

1. Full Face Covering Banned in Switzerland

Many countries in the world have banned full-face covering of women in public areas and Switzerland is a new addition to this list. This includes burqa and niqab as well which is considered a part of Islam law.

But prejudice against the community seems to ignore this ritual and the country will be moving ahead with the ban. All public accessible places will have this ban. 

2. International Women’s Day

The entire world celebrated International Women’s Day on 8 March 2021 with different events and gatherings.

The day is to empower women around us and celebrate their achievements.
