1. Private Jobs in Haryana

The son of soil concept is very common in India and Haryana took a similar step with their latest bill.

The government reserved 75% of the private sector jobs for the locals with salaries up to 50,000. And if the firm fails to find the ideal candidate, they can look outside after informing the government. 

2. CSIR Floriculture Mission 

The Union Health Minister took the initiative of launching the CSIR Floriculture Mission on 5th March 2021.

The mission will launch in 21 states and a UT in the country as of now. The main objective is to cultivate flower crops, commercial florals, and seasonal florals. 

International Relations

1. The Desert Flag

The desert flag is a multinational exercise where the Indian Air Force participated as well. Countries are the USA, UAE and France are also part of this event. This is India’s first time in a combat exercise at this level. The event includes 10 countries in total. 

2. India – Sweden Summit

The Prime Ministers of India and Sweden came together to attend a virtual summit to discuss the issues of common interest on 5th March 2021.

Climate changes were on top of the list as both countries gave priority to the issue. The other topics of the conversation were global and regional issues. 

3. Chabahar Day

The Maritime India Summit-2021 took place from 2nd March to 4th March 2021 with the participation of countries like Afghanistan, Armenia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Uzbekistan.

The  4th March 2021 was celebrated as the ‘Chabahar Day with the support of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways.

4. India Telecom 2021

The Telecom Equipment Export Promotion Council hosted the India Telecom 2021on 3rd and 4th March 2021.

This event comes under the Market Access Initiative Scheme with the complete support of the Department of Telecommunications & Ministry of External Affairs.

The Business Expo sees more than 1000 delegates coming over from 45 counties of the world. 

Science and Technology

1. 19 Satellites Launched by ISRO

The Indian Space Research Organisation reached another milestone by launching PSLV C51 with 19 satellites inside.

One of the satellites was Amazonia 1 of Brazil and the rest were from either India or the USA. The New Space India Limited also marked its first mission with this launch. 

2. Phase 3 Trial of COVAXIN 

The vaccine drive has already begun in most of the countries but the clinical trials for the most still continue.

Phase three of COVAXIN revealed 81% accuracy in preventing Covid. The vaccine production is done by ICMR and Bharat Biotech as they completed the third trial over 

25,800 individuals.

3. 140 Million Years Old Fossil

Researchers of  Neuquen city in Argentina discovered the fossils of Dinosaur that is from 140 million years ago.

Argentina’s Patagonian wilderness is the name of the dinosaur belonging to the group called titanosaurs. It is from the Cretaceous Period and the species is Ninjatitan Zapata. 

Awards and Recognition

1. International Year of Millets

The United Nations declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets, a resolution sponsored by India.

The United Nations General assembly passed the resolution to raise awareness about the health benefits of millets in all member countries. 

2. Most Livable Cities in India

The Ease of Living Index 2020 declared the result earlier this month declaring Shimla and Bengaluru as the most livable cities.

The Ministry of Urban and Housing Affairs releases the detailed report every year. Bangalore won in the million-plus population while Shimla came first in less than a million category. 

3. CERA Week 

CERA Week global energy and environment leadership award was won by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

The award was given on the basis of dedication towards sustainability and the environment. Modi called India a leader for such issues in his keynote speech on 5th March 2021

Social Issues 

1. Sugamya Bharat App 

Keeping the differently-abled people in mind, the Indian government took the initiative of launching the Sugamya Bharat app.

The sole purpose of the app is to improve the accessibility to the differently-abled enabling them to register for government initiatives more easily. “Access- The Photo Digest” a handbook was also launched.
