Quiz on Lithuania

The history of Lithuania can be traced back to ancient settlements established approximately 10,000 years ago. However, the earliest written record referring to the name of the country dates back to the year 1009 AD.

This state expanded its territory from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea through the conquest of numerous East Slavic groups residing in Ruthenia. Did you know this all?

Summary:

The Grand Duchy of Lithuania established a dynastic union with Poland in the year 1385, known as the Union of Krewo.

In 1655, during the Second Northern War, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania sought protection from the Swedish Empire by entering into the Union of Kėdainiai.

After a brief period of independence, Lithuania became once again a part of the Polish-Lithuanian state. This political union lasted until 1795 when the Partition of Poland resulted in the disappearance of both independent Lithuania and Poland from the political landscape.

Following the dissolution, Lithuanians found themselves under the governance of the Russian Empire until the 20th century. This period witnessed significant uprisings, notably in 1830-1831 and 1863.
