This diversity extends to the geography and wildlife found in Iraq. It is a founding member of the United Nations, OPEC, Arab League, OIC, Non-Aligned Movement, and the IMF. Iraq underwent periods of substantial economic and military expansion, as well as shorter episodes of instability, including armed conflicts, from 1920 to 2005.
