“From Software Engineer to Data Engineer: My Journey to Walmart with DataFlair.” – Says Nishchay

The Crossroads of My Career

My career started at Morgan Stanley, where I worked as a Software Engineer. Later, I moved to Meesho, where I worked with large-scale applications and high-traffic systems. While I enjoyed working as a software engineer, something was missing—my curiosity for data engineering kept growing.

The more I worked on building applications, the more I realized how crucial data infrastructure was. I knew transitioning from software engineering to data engineering wouldn’t be easy. I needed structured learning, hands-on projects, and a mentor-driven approach to build real expertise.

Finding the Right Platform – Why TechVidvan?

When I decided to upskill, I explored multiple learning platforms, but most were too theoretical or lacked real-world relevance. That’s when I came across DataFlair TechVidvan. I learnt Data Engineering from Rahul sir. What set it apart was how the curriculum was designed—it wasn’t just about learning Spark, Hadoop, or SQL; it was about solving real-world data challenges with end-to-end project implementation.

The Learning Experience – Going Beyond Basics

TechVidvan didn’t just provide lessons—it gave me challenges. I worked on multiple real-time projects where I built data pipelines, optimized ETL workflows, and managed distributed data processing. One of my favorite projects was designing a real-time streaming pipeline using Kafka and Spark.

Every concept was covered in a detailed manner. I need not see any other website while learning the concepts.

The Transition – How I Landed at Walmart

With my new skill set, I felt ready to leap. I showed multiple projects that I had completed at TechVidvan in my resume. I started applying for data engineering roles and began getting interview calls. Walmart’s hiring process was rigorous, focusing on hands-on problem-solving and real-world data challenges.

My confidence in handling real-world problems made a huge impact, and after multiple rounds of technical discussions, I secured my dream role at Walmart as a Data Engineer.

Final Thoughts

TechVidvan was a turning point in my career. The practical learning and industry-aligned curriculum helped me gain my dream job.

For anyone looking to switch domains, I have advice: invest in the right learning platform and push yourself to work hard. The right opportunities will follow, just like they did for me.
