Weightages and Criteria given by NAAC

NAAC has established a set of seven criteria that will serve as the foundation for its evaluation methods. NAAC has set down the classification of all the Higher Educational Institutions into three major types which are: University, Autonomous College, and Affiliated/Constituent College. It has then assigned different weightages to these criteria under different key aspects based on how the three types of HEIs function and what their organizational focus is.

The differential weightages for the three categories of HEIs are as follows:

Institutions are evaluated in four categories for each major feature, namely A, B, C, and D, signifying Very excellent, Good, Satisfactory, and Unsatisfactory levels, respectively. The summated score for all Key Aspects under a Criterion is then calculated with the proper weightage, and the GPA for the Criterion is computed.

After applying the appropriate weightage to each criterion, the Cumulative GPA (CGPA), which determines the final Assessment Outcome, is computed from the seven GPAs related to the seven criteria.
