What is the Full form of SPSS?

SPSS is the short form for Statistical Package For The Social Sciences. Used for complex statistical data analysis and processing of social science data, the SPSS is a software package introduced by SPSS Inc. in 1968. Later in 2009, IBM purchased SPSS, a package of tools used for result evaluation. Many sectors like health sciences, market analysis, data mining, marketing organization, and analysts in government and education make use of this software.

  • Version 10 (SPSS – X) was launched in 1983.
  • The data sets comprise various forms of records.
  • Versions from 16.0 could be run under Linux, Mac, and Windows.
  • Acquired by IBM on July 28, 2009.
  • The company renamed itself PASW (Predictive Analytics Software), due to the ownership conflict of the name.
  • Became a subsidiary of IBM in January 2010.
  • On October 1, 2010, IBM received full ownership of SPSS.
