ICU stands for Intensive Care Unit. It is a special hospital division that offers critical care medications and intensive care to patients. Patients in this division suffer from the severest and life-threatening diseases or injuries and need continuous and constant supervision from a team of specialist physicians and nurses. 

This team of specialists specializes in the treatment of life-threatening illnesses and severe injuries. Other names for ICU are CCU (Critical Care Unit) and ITU (Intensive Treatment Unit).
