What is the full form of DSC?

DSC stands for Digital Signature Certificate, a protected digital key that helps verify and confirm the identity of the owner of the certificate. In order to build the signature, digital signatures use the authentication of the public key. Certifying authorities provide the DSC that contains the user’s information like name, address, pin code, nation, email address, certificate issuance date, and the certifying authority’s name.

Types of DSC

There are three types of DSC:

Type 1 Certificates

This helps a person or private user verify the recipient’s name and contact details from the clearly specified subject area in the certifying agency’s database.

Type 2 Certificates

This helps the director or signatory authority of organizations during e-filing with ROC( Registrar of Companies). It is a necessary document for people who sign manual documents when submitting ROC returns.

Type 3 Certificates

This is useful for online participation or bidding at online tenders, and e-auctions all around India.

Advantages of DSC

  • Helps verify personal details and knowledge of an entity when doing online business.
  • A person doesn’t need to be physically present for approval if they are the owner of the digitally signed certificate. You can sign a digital format (PDF file) and send it to the receiver, instead of a hard copy of the file.
  • These documents help in online participation or bidding at e-auctions and filing online tenders.
