What is the Full form of CMO?

CMO stands for Chief Medical Officer, the head of a government hospital’s medical department, and is ranked top in the system of medical staff. He is a senior doctor who serves as a consultant and examines public health issues.

He is the qualified head of all doctors serving at the hospital and is responsible for directing and overseeing the medical experts and doctors. In the US a CMO is known as the Surgeon General. Whereas in Canada, he is known as the Chief Public Health Officer.

Primary duties of CMO

1. Manages daily activities of a hospital, including hospital administration, patient safety, and many more.
2. Carries out surprise inspections.
3. Serves as a mediator between doctors and the hospital staff.
4. Oversees the empty positions in the hospital, training programs, and expenditure.
