CBSE full form is Central Board of Secondary Education. It is a national-level education board for private and public schools in India. The Indian Union Government operates and regulates it. CBSE demands that all schools under it adopt the NCERT curriculum only.

There are around 20,299 schools in India that are CBSE affiliated and there are 220 schools in 28 international countries that are CBSE affiliated. The following table gives some important information about CBSE.

Eligibility criteria to attend CBSE Examination.

CBSE carries out a test for class ten students called AISSE. For class twelve students it carries out the test called AISSCE. As for teacher recruitment, it carries out the test called National Eligibility Test (NET) for teacher recruitment.

  • Students enrolled in CBSE-affiliated schools are eligible to appear in AISSE and AISSCE irrespective of their creed, caste, religion, sect, economic status, gender, race, or tribe.
  • As for the NET exam, students with an aggregate of over 55 percent in their Master’s from a UGC recognized board or university can appear under CBSE regulations.

  • Defines suitable academic methods that provide quality, stress-free, comprehensive, and child-focused academic achievements.
  • Gathers feedback from various stakeholders to track and review the variety of educational activities.
  • Suggests plans to boost school education without compromising the national goals.
  • Upgrades teachers’ skills and professional competencies by organizing capacity development activities.
  • Prescribes the rules and format for conducting 10th and 12th class final examinations.
  • Recommends and modifies CBSE exam guidelines regularly.
  • Affiliates institutions that meet CBSE criteria.

CBSE Regional office

Following is the list of the regional offices of CBSE:

1. Delhi: Covers Delhi NCT and Foreign Schools.

2. Chennai: Covers of Andhra Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Telangana.

3. Guwahati: Coverss Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim.

4. Ajmer: Covers Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh.

5. Panchkula: Covers Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.

6. Allahabad: Covers Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

7. Patna: Covers Jharkhand and Bihar.

8. Bhubaneswar: Covers West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.

9. Thiruvananthapuram: Covers Lakshadweep and Kerala.

Examinations conducted by CBSE Board

  • Yearly final exams for 10 and 12 classes students.
  • AIEEE for entry in undergraduate courses in architecture and engineering.
  • NEET for entry in major medical colleges.
  • CTET to hire teachers for the central educational school.
  • Appoints professors at colleges and universities by NET examination.
