What is the full form of MLA?

MLA stands for Member of Legislative Assembly. The voters of a district nominate an MLA to the legislature of the State Indian government. Each state has four to nine MLAs for every Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha. The duties of an MLA differ depending on their roles. A person can also be a CM or cabinet minister along with being an MLA.

Eligibility Criteria for becoming an MLA

Following are the basic criteria for becoming an MLA:

1. Should be an Indian resident.

2. Should be at least 25 years old.

3. Should be a voter of any constituency.

4. Should be mentally stable.

Duties of MLA

1. Serves the people, records the complaints and ambitions of the people, and informs the state government about people’s opinions and complaints.

2. Uses legislative instruments for the good of the people of his constituency.

3. Lifts the concerns of his region in front of the state government.
