What is the Full form of OPD?
OPD stands for Outpatient Department. This is the primary point of communication between the patients and medical professionals. A patient goes to the OPD as soon as he/she arrives at the hospital and from there the OPD assigns the unit the patient needs to go to.
The OPD is present on the ground floor for the convenience of the patients. It has various departments like the Department of Neurology, the Department of Orthopaedics, the Department of Oncology, the Department of Gynecology, the Department of General Medicine, and many more. The patient goes to the assigned department after finishing all the paperwork over here.
Difference between outpatient and inpatient
Outpatient:
A person who is hospitalized for less than 24 hours but needs to attend care or treatment at a clinic or hospital.
Inpatient:
A person who is hospitalized for several days or weeks.
