What is the full form of CC?
CC stands for Cubic Capacity and relates to engine size and capability. It describes the cylinder volume of an automobile between the Piston Top Dead Center (TDC) and the Bottom Dead Center (BDC). This is the place within the actual cylinder where combustion takes place. It is the volume the piston sweeps inside the cylinder and the greater an engine’s CC, the higher will be the burning fuel and efficiency of the engine.
Measurement of Cubic Capacity
The more the CC of an engine, the lesser the fuel economy due to higher fuel consumption. We measure Cubic Capacity in the terms of cubic centimeters. Formula to measure the CC of an engine:
V = (π/4) x (D) x N x H
where,
V = Volume
D = Bore Diameter
N= Number of f Cylinders
H = Stroke Length and
π = 3.14
Conversion to CC
- One cubic inch = 16.38706 cm3
- One milliliter = 1 cm3
- One liter = 1000 cm3
