ACP stands for Assistant Commissioner of Police. A very high level of the Indian Police Service, this is (IPS). The Assistant Chief of Police (ACP) holds a significant position in the police force, serving on both the central and state levels. The rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police, also known as ACP, is one of the most senior in the Indian Police Service.

The ACP rank is not just used in India; it is a police rank that is used worldwide. For tax administrations such as income tax, property tax, in-country taxes, and customs this rank is widely used. Magisterial powers are granted to the ACP in charge of land taxes.

Process of levelling to the post of ACP

In order to become an ACP, you must pass all three parts of the Civil Services Examination: Preliminary, Mains, and an Interview. To become an ACP, you must first apply with your service preference set to Indian Police Services.

The following people are eligible to sit for the Civil Service Examination:

• In order to be eligible, the applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution.
• Candidates in their final year of high school or college can also sit for this exam.
• The permitted age range is 21-32.
• To sit for the Civil Services examination, you must have graduated.

Duties of an ACP

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) is in charge of the daily operations of the department, which also includes criminal and associated offenses.

An ACP’s duties also include providing positive feedback on departmental strategy, initiatives, and actions.

The ACP must report to his or her superior authority and, if necessary, provide the necessary information.

• Correctly record any complaints brought to their attention by a complainant or his representative, whether in person or by letter, e-mail, or other methods and quickly follow up on those complaints after acknowledging receipt of them.
