So, this lesson discusses the functions we use for performing exponential and logarithmic operations on data values. We use such functions in making mathematical calculations. For explanatory purpose, we have used x and y as parameters used in the functions.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Qlik Sense Exponential and Logarithmic Functions<\/h2>\n

i. exp() function<\/span><\/h3>\n

The exp() function is used to calculate the exponential value of an integer. It uses the natural logarithm <\/span>e<\/b> base which is the mathematical constant in e<\/span>x<\/span>. While using the exponential function, you only need to specify the value for <\/span>x<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The syntax of exp() function<\/strong><\/p>\n

exp(x)<\/pre>\n
Where <\/span>x<\/b> is the number you want to convert as an exponential value calculated upon the base <\/span>e<\/b>. The result of this function is a positive number.<\/span><\/p>\n
For example,<\/span><\/p>\n
exp(3)<\/span> returns 20.085.<\/span><\/p>\n

This function returns the value of common logarithmic base 10 of <\/span>x<\/b>, where x>0 and is a number. <\/span><\/p>\n

log10(3)<\/span> returns 0.4771<\/span><\/p>\n

The syntax for pow() Function:<\/strong><\/p>\n
pow(x,y)<\/pre>\n

pow(3, 3)<\/span> returns 27, or<\/span><\/p>\n
pow(3, 2)<\/span> returns 9<\/span><\/p>\n
v. sqr() function<\/span><\/h3>\n
This function returns the result of x squared i.e. x<\/span>2 <\/span>(x to the power 2). <\/span><\/p>\n
The syntax for sqr() Function:<\/strong><\/p>\n

For example,<\/span><\/p>\n
sqr(3)<\/span> returns 9<\/span><\/p>\n

sqrt(2)<\/span> returns 1.414<\/span><\/p>\n
