Since we know Impala is Hadoop\u2019s sub-project and, it can only work on <strong>Linux operating system<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Hence, we need to install Impala on Linux operating system. Since Cloudera shipped Impala, it is available with Cloudera Quickstart VM. So, for that, we will see how to download Cloudera Quickstart VM and start Impala.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>So, let&#8217;s start Impala Installation.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Downloading Cloudera Quickstart VM<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In order to download the latest version of Cloudera QuickStart VM on our system, we need to follow various steps given below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">At first, open the homepage of Cloudera website <\/span><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cloudera.com\/\">http:\/\/www.cloudera.com\/<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After that, we need to register ourselves. On the Cloudera homepage, we will see a Sign in link click on that. Basically, that will redirect us to the Sign in page.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Further, click the Register Now link, if we haven\u2019t registered yet. So, that will give us Account Registration form. Hence, no we need to register there in order to sign in to Cloudera account.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now, click on the Downloads link, open the download page of Cloudera website just after signing in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Step 4-<\/strong> Download QuickStart VM<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> By clicking on the Download Now button Download the Cloudera QuickStart VM. Basically, it will redirect us to the download page of QuickStart VM.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> After that click the Get ONE NOW button. Then accept the license agreement. Further, click the submit button.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Here, we can see Cloudera offers its VM compatible VMware, KVM and VIRTUALBOX. Now, choose the required version. Since we are demonstrating the Cloudera QuickStart VM setup using VirtualBox here. So, click the VIRTUALBOX DOWNLOAD button.<\/li>\n<li>In this way it will start downloading a file named cloudera-quickstart-vm-5.5.0-0-virtualbox.ovf, that is a virtual box image file.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Importing the Cloudera QuickStart VM<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now, using virtual box, we need to import the cloudera-quickstart-vm-5.5.0-0-virtualbox.ovf file, after downloading. So, in order to import we need install VirtualBox in our system. Hence, to import the downloaded image file here are the steps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">By using link <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.virtualbox.org\/\">https:\/\/www.virtualbox.org\/<\/a><\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Download VirtualBox and install it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Now, Click File and choose Import Appliance, by Opening the virtual box software.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Further, we will get the Import Virtual Appliance window, by clicking Import Appliance. Then choose the location of the downloaded image file.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Also, start the virtual machine after importing Cloudera QuickStart VM image. Now you can see, this virtual machine has \u00a0<strong>Hadoop<\/strong>, Impala, and all the required software installed.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Starting Impala Shell<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Moreover, in order to start Impala, execute the following command, after opening the terminal.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>[cloudera@quickstart ~] $ impala-shell<\/b><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In this way, Impala Shell will get started with this message.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Starting Impala Shell without Kerberos authentication <\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>Connected to quickstart.cloudera:21000 <\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>Server version: impalad version 2.3.0-cdh5.5.0 RELEASE (build<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>0c891d79aa38f297d244855a32f1e17280e2129b) <\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b>********************************************************************************<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><b> Welcome to the Impala shell. Basically, if we open your browser, after installing CDH5 and starting Impala, we will get the Cloudera homepage.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Then, in order to open the Hue browser click the bookmark, Hue.
