Functions are applied to a single variable or to a set of variables for analyzing and processing data. There are hundreds of built-in functions in SAS, we will be looking at the most frequently used and important ones.<\/p>\n

Types of Functions in SAS<\/h2>\n

SAS Functions can be divided into different types depending on their usage and the task they perform. Below are the different types of functions in SAS:<\/p>\n

1. SAS Arithmetic Functions<\/h3>\n

These functions are also called SAS Numeric functions. It performs mathematical operations on an argument or a set of arguments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
ABS(argument)<\/td>\nreturns absolute value<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
MAX(argument,argument, …)<\/td>\nreturns the largest value of the numeric arguments<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
MIN(argument,argument, …)<\/td>\nreturns the smallest value of the numeric arguments<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
MOD(argument-1, argument-2)<\/td>\nreturns the remainder<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
SIGN(argument)<\/td>\nreturns the sign of a value or 0<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
