How to Count the Number of Characters in a Word Document?<\/h3>\n

Often, your documents may turn out to be longer than your expectations, and you might feel the need to check the number of characters in it. Microsoft Word has a feature to count the number of characters in a document or a part of it for reference purposes. Let us look into the methods to count the number of characters in a document or a part of it.
\nThere are three methods to count the number of characters in your Word Document.<\/p>\n

Count Number of Characters from the Word Count<\/strong> Dialog Box<\/h3>\n

Follow the steps given below to count the number of characters in your Word document from the Review<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n

1. Open the Review<\/strong> tab and choose the Word Count<\/strong> option under the Proofing<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n

Quick Parts<\/strong> in Word can also be used to count the number of characters in your Word document. Follow the steps given below to find the number of characters in your Word document using the Quick Parts<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

1. Place your cursor at the position where you wish to insert the number of characters.<\/p>\n

2. From the Insert<\/strong> tab, select the Explore Quick Parts<\/strong> button under the Text<\/strong> group.<\/p>\n

Follow the steps below to count the number of characters using online tools. We would be using LetterCount for demonstration purposes.<\/p>\n

1. Open your Word document and select all text using the Ctrl + A<\/strong> keyboard shortcut. Use the Ctrl + C<\/strong> shortcut to copy the document content.<\/p>\n
