It is a technique of encoding details of a given analogue (digital signal) by changing the frequency of the carrier wave according to the frequency of the modulating signal.<\/p>\n<p>Modulating signal is the message that needs to be transmitted to an electronic signal after modification. The amplitude and amplitude-phase remain constant whereas the carrier frequency signal modifies to the message signal.<\/p>\n<h3>Few pieces of information about FM<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Edwin Armstrong established FM in 1930, in the US<\/li>\n<li>Though the radio wave is known as a carrier wave, the phase and amplitude-phase continues to remain the same<\/li>\n<li>Has greater bandwidth and better sound quality<br \/>\nIts frequency range is 88MHz \u2013 108 MHz in the higher spectrum<\/li>\n<li>It is less susceptible to sound.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Use of FM<\/h3>\n<p>The most common use of FM is in radio broadcasting as it makes radio transmission easier due to its large signal-to-noise ratio. This results in minimal interference with radio frequencies.<\/p>\n<h3>Advantages of FM<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Interference and sound are less.<\/li>\n<li>Less power consumption.<\/li>\n<li>Guard bands help separate the FM channels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Limitations of FM<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Machinery is costly.<\/li>\n<li>Wide bandwidth.<\/li>\n<li>Receiving a small FM signal.<\/li>\n<li>We need to keep the antennas close to FM systems, for optimal interaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The full form of FM is Frequency Modulation.
