It is an energy-saving bulb that consumes lesser energy as compared to conventional incandescent lamps. It has two electrodes and a glass tube that contains a mixture of argon gas and mercury vapour. The inner surface of the tube has a filling of phosphorus.<\/p>\n<h3>A brief history of CFL<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>CFL, produced in 1890 by Peter Cooper Hewitt is a part of the generation of Electric Lamp.<\/li>\n<li>It got redesigned in 1939 in order to make it cheaper.<\/li>\n<li>It received another update in 1976 making it cheaper than before.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Working principle of CFL<\/h3>\n<p>CFL has multiple illumination generating pathways. The electric current travels via a wire filament in bright light and heats the thread to create light. The current transfers with the help of the tube that contains argon gas &amp; mercury vapour and activates the mercury vapour further generating UV light.<\/p>\n<h3>Types of CFL<\/h3>\n<p>There are two types of CFL:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Integrated:<\/strong> This type consists of electronic ballast, bayonet fitting, and tube.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Non-Integrated:<\/strong> This type consists of a permanently fixed electronic ballast in the luminaire which is not one with the bulb. Thus, when expired only the bulb needs to be changed.<\/p>\n<h3>Advantages of CFL<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Uses less energy.<\/li>\n<li>Long-lasting.<\/li>\n<li>Cheap.<\/li>\n<li>Reduces CO2 emissions.<\/li>\n<li>Versatile and highly efficient as it comes in various sizes, shapes, and capacities.<\/li>\n<li>Convenient to use and we can use it in various light fixtures like ceiling lamps, table lamps, dimmer lamps, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Generates less heat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CFL stands for Compact Fluorescent Lamp.
