Is Namenode machine same as DataNode machine in terms of hardware?

  It is quite possible that Name Node and Data Node may reside in same machine. however it is recommended that the Name Node and Data Node should reside on difference machines as there nature of work are different.
  
  Name Node machine should be of High RAM as it stores the metadata in-memory
  
  Data Node on the other hand must be of High Disk space as it stores the actual data.
